Bulëza has had an inspiring journey from her roots in Kosovo to becoming a successful leader in the healthcare industry across Europe. Her story, marked by resilience and innovation, has captured the attention of many, leading to this interview. We delve into her personal journey, her contributions to the field, and the vision behind DRYM Health.

You have had quite the journey, from your roots in Kosovo to working and studying across Europe. Could you tell us more about your personal journey and how it led you to founding DRYM Health?

I was born and grew up in Kosovo but moved to the Czech Republic during the war, where I lived for a decade and studied pharmacy. After my studies, I returned to my home country with the intention of contributing by starting a pharmacy as a family business. Unfortunately, the economic and political systems were still not conducive, and numerous issues led to the closure of the pharmacy within a year. This was a very difficult time for me personally, but it also marked the beginning of a new and successful chapter as I had to leave the country again.

I moved to Germany and joined a visionary and serial entrepreneur as his first hire in what would become one of the leading companies in the field of patient-specific pharmaceutical compounding for cancer and other critical diseases. I played an instrumental role in the growth of the company and, six years in, with its acquisition by a major market player, I became the CEO, leading a team of 70 people and achieving upper double-digit million sales. I was promoted to C-level within the acquiring group and stayed on for another four years, leading strategy and business development. During this time, I observed first-hand the consequences of not prioritizing personal health in a fast-paced and high-growth environment on the performance of the leadership team and, consequently, the company. This inspired me to start a company that would help businesses maintain sustainable growth by investing in the health and performance of their leadership teams, leading to the founding of DRYM Health.

Could you elaborate on your digital business, DRYM Health, and the strategies that have driven its success?

DRYM Health is an integrated health and performance optimization platform, leveraging data from cutting-edge tests and wearable technology, as well as expert guidance to enhance health, performance, and longevity. We specialize in working with high-performing leaders and their teams in the fast-paced innovation economy, redefining health as the cornerstone of sustainable business growth. Our success strategy revolves around a targeted B2B approach, primarily collaborating with leadership teams of fast-growing companies to ensure they continue performing at their peak without burning out. We also engage with VCs and accelerators, who have a vested interest in the success of their founder teams, as well as private equity firms and hedge funds, who sponsor our program for their own teams. This comprehensive go-to-market strategy ensures that we address the needs of our diverse client base, driving both individual and organizational success.

Building and maintaining a digital presence and brand reputation has also been crucial for our success. We achieve this by consistently delivering value to our users through partnering with the best-in-class wearable providers, delivering world-class expertise and high-quality content, engaging digital marketing campaigns, and active participation in industry events and conferences. We also place a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Can you discuss the major challenges and opportunities you've faced in the journey of launching and scaling DRYM Health?

One of the biggest opportunities we've encountered is the growing interest in health optimization and longevity, especially among high performers. Being on top of your health and having the latest wearables has become a new status symbol. The wearable tech market has expanded significantly, making these devices more affordable and accessible. CGMs, for instance, were once primarily used by diabetics or Olympic athletes, but now many founders are using them. The same goes for sleep trackers and various supplements. People are more informed and actively engaged in their health, which presents a fantastic opportunity for DRYM Health.

However, this opportunity comes with challenges. There's a lot of misinformation out there, especially from some influencers who aren’t experts but have large followings. Nutrition, in particular, is an area with a lot of confusion. We often need to re-educate people, starting by correcting misconceptions and stopping practices that harm them. On the positive side, our platform offers expert guidance, providing a reliable source of accurate information and helping clients navigate these complexities with confidence.

Launching DRYM Health during an economic downturn was another significant challenge. Many companies were cutting budgets, which slowed purchasing decisions despite strong interest in our product. This extended our sales cycles and posed a considerable hurdle. Yet, the economic downturn also highlighted an opportunity. With tighter budgets, leadership teams faced increased pressure to perform at their peak, often compensating for smaller teams due to layoffs. This situation increased the importance of our program, as the need for optimal performance became more critical than ever. By focusing on the health and performance of leadership teams, we were able to address this pressing need and demonstrate the value of our solutions in driving sustainable business growth.

Considering the insights you've gained from launching and scaling DRYM Health, how do you continue to lead and innovate in the health optimization and longevity industry?

We are currently experiencing a major paradigm shift in healthcare, transitioning from a reactive and one-size-fits-all approach to preventative, proactive, and personalized care. Personalization, in particular, relies on having precise information about each individual's biology. The rapid advancements in testing and tracking technologies have greatly expanded what we can achieve in this aspect.

For example, a decade ago, measuring heart rate variability (HRV) was costly and complex. Today, anyone with a smart wristband, watch, or ring can access this data. Despite these advancements, many health solutions still operate in silos, focusing on single aspects such as sleep, nutrition, or stress without integrating them into a unified approach.

At DRYM Health, we are leading the charge in integrating these separate elements. Our platform combines various health metrics to provide a comprehensive view of an individual's health.

As the health optimization and longevity ecosystem continues to evolve, the need for such integrated systems will become even more critical. This integration not only empowers users with a holistic understanding of their health but also establishes a new standard for the future of healthcare.

Additionally, we are constantly exploring new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead of the curve, enhancing our offering with more advanced testing and tracking technologies, and reinforcing our position as innovators and thought leaders in the field.

DRYM Health focuses on various aspects of health optimization. Could you share some key data insights and explain the foundational pillars that drive performance optimization in your platform?

We focus on four pillars: sleep, nutrition, movement, and mind. Sleep is the foundation of health; improving sleep quality can enhance decision-making, dietary choices, and adherence to exercise routines. Optimizing sleep involves addressing technical aspects like room environment and sleep hygiene, but also managing stress, which often impacts sleep. Managing glucose levels is another critical factor, particularly for high performers. Athletes monitor their glucose to maintain peak performance, and similarly, stable glucose levels can improve overall health and cognitive function. The interconnectedness of sleep, nutrition, and stress management is crucial. By addressing these areas, we can significantly enhance both personal well-being and professional performance.

As you pioneer personalized, data-driven healthcare, what are your plans for expanding DRYM Health in the UK and globally, and do you see it integrating into existing healthcare systems?

Our expansion plans are twofold. First, we want to build on our current go-to-market strategy by increasing the number of organizations we work with in the innovation economy. We also see big opportunities in sectors like banking, consultancies, and major healthcare and pharma companies. By leveraging the positive feedback from our current clients and boosting our digital presence, we’re confident we can attract more business and onboard clients faster.

Second, we’re focusing on strategic partnerships. We’ve started collaborating with members clubs and established brands in health, fitness, and beauty. These partners have direct access to our target audience, and offering our platform to their members is a valuable add-on.

By expanding our reach, we’ll be able to lower the cost of our platform, making it more accessible to a wider audience and potentially expanding into the direct-to-consumer (D2C) market. The traditional healthcare system will inevitably have to catch up with the latest science sooner rather than later. When that happens, we believe we’ll be in the perfect position to provide a blueprint for integrating personalized, data-driven health solutions into mainstream healthcare.
